Komadre Kombucha opened in the spring of 2021, joining a wonderful line-up of Sixth Avenue shops and eateries.
Komadre started as a front-porch kombucha delivery service called Booch Brigade. Founder Julie Davidson, who is Latinx, blended the fruit flavors of her childhood and travels through Latin America. Through additional participation at area business pop-ups and farmers markets, she refined her niche.
“I love the science of brewing and the magic of combining flavors,” Davidson told South Sound.
After rechristening the business to Komadre Kombucha, in honor of all the strong women who raised and mentored her through the years, Davidson continues to share those sentiments today.
Experience customer favorites like rhubarb-blackberry-ginger — known as ‘Notorious RBG’ — pineapple-ginger, passionfruit-orange-guava, or a number of crisp new flavors being introduced. All concoctions make use of fresh local fruit.
Stop by the Taproom at 2914 Sixth Avenue, Suite A, Tacoma, where, along with kombucha, a number of locally sourced products are available for sale, such as Theo Chocolate, handcrafted jewelry, and more.
Find Komadre Kombucha on tap at places like Primo Grill and Beer Star, or visit the Broadway Tacoma Farmer’s Market on Thursdays and Fresh Express Mobile Market stops. And watch for pop-ups at places like Ice Cream Social to beat the heat with a refreshing kombucha ice-cream float.
